Jack Allison

Allison was the first film Mark Richt requested to see when he accepted the job as Miami’s Head Coach in December of 2015. Allison is a former high school All American from Palmetto, Florida. At 6-5 this prototypical sized quarterback has a howitzer attached to his right shoulder and moxie to supplement his game.

The open quarterback competition is sure to garner a lot attention this spring and into the summer. Do not expect a starter to be named until all presenting parties are accounted for including Vanguard product N’kosi Perry.

Although Perry has received high praise from coach Richt, his late summer arrival could hurt his chances. Allison would have the obvious captain Jack leg up on the competition with his familiarity in the system.

Allison has the best arm strength on campus. He has the prototypical frame and recent film of his workouts showed improved footwork. While there is a fan propensity to fall in love with shinny new toys, you can’t undervalue system familiarity. Two new young capable quarterbacks joined the Hurricanes in 2017 but don’t expect Allison to shy away from his opportunity.

Richt was recently quoted on 560 WQAM that no quarterback solidified the backup position this past season. Was that just a call to arms and the motivation needed for Allison to assimilate as the Hurricane starter? He definitely has all the tools.
