Miami Hurricanes Five Names to Know for 2017
Jhavonte Dean
Dean is a South Florida native who participated last year at Blinn Community College in Texas. With the recent departures of Corn Elder and Adrian Colbert, someone needs to lock down the cornerback spot. Dean seems to be a unanimous favorite to assimilate into a starting role this Fall.
Dean was a one time commitment to the University of Alabama. Nick Saban has had unquestionable documented success signing and developing the defensive back position.
If Saban offers you a scholarship in the secondary, you are worthy. Miami received Dean’s late commitment after he flipped from the Crimson Time.
Dean is quick to close in one-on-one situations and shows good ability to defend 50/50 balls. Hurricane defensive coordinator Manny Diaz desires man coverage capabilities.
Diaz has no problem isolating defensive backs on solitary islands with the sole purpose to envelop receivers. Dean has extreme confidence in his ability and seems to relish the opportunity to live on Dean Island.
At 6-2 and a reported 4.3 second forty Dean is a perfect candidate to start. Size and speed are highly desirable traits at the cornerback position and Dean checks both boxes. With junior college experience and his measurable attributes, Dean’s chances to run through the smoke as a starter are high.
