Miami Hurricanes Five Names to Know for 2017
Jeff Thomas
Thomas is an incredibly fast wide receiver from East St Louis, Illinois. The MVP in the Under-Armour All American Game proved that he could dominate against elite talent.
Thomas ran away from defenders in the UA game with unabated efficacy. Thomas had 32 receiving touchdowns and 35 total touchdowns in his East St Louis High school career. His yards per completion average in high school was a staggering 20 yards per catch.
Thomas will immediately keep opposing defensive coordinators in check. Freshman All-Amercian Ahmmon Richards rightfully will garner a ton of attention this year.
It is imperative that someone can win the one on one match-ups opposite Richards and Thomas is able. Richt wanted to ensure Miami improved its speed at the wide receiver position. Coach Richt absolutely accomplished that mission with Thomas.
A seemingly late target by the Hurricanes, Thomas recruitment picked up after the Under-Armour game. Wide Receiver coach Ron Dugans finished his 2017 class strongly with a myriad of different skill set players.
Thomas was the highest rated player in the fold and a simultaneous threat in the return game. Ultimately it will be hard to keep someone with Thomas skill set off the field. Thomas’ type of speed will translate on all levels.
