Reed’s shot was clearly a split second too late. More highlights were to come. After Virginia took a one point lead in overtime, a Bruce Brown three gave the Hurricanes the lead for good with under 30 seconds left to go in the extra session.

The Hurricanes got out of Charlottesville with a huge (Yuge?) victory. It almost cements their status on the right side of the bubble. That was the talk among the pundits after the game. Have the Hurricanes solidified their spot in the NCAA Tournament with the win?

The win boosted the Hurricanes spot in the RPI from 50th to 37th. It also gave them a second win over a team ranked in the top 25 in the RPI and their first such win this season on the road. The committee and the college basketball pundits had to be impressed and have the Hurricanes currently in the NCAA Tournament field.

The Hurricanes were understandably excited after the game. Even Miami Head Coach Jim Larranga got in on the excitement after the game. He danced with his players earlier this season when he got his 600th career victory at Pittsburgh.

The 67-year-old coach was equally if not more excited after the victory over the Cavaliers.

The win was huge. Miami will now get four days off before red hot Duke comes to town for Senior Day in Coral Gables. Davon Reed and Kamari Murphy will be the only scholarship players honored. The Blue Devils have an eight game winning streak going into their game with Syracuse Wednesday night.
