5) Miami 80 Duke 69, 2016

The teams matched up sporting identical 5-1 ACC records.the Miami Hurricanes used balanced scoring, a strong perimeter game and held the Blue Devils scoreless for over four minutes halfway through the second half to pull away to an 80-69 victory.

The game marked the second straight season that Miami had beaten Duke. It was also the second time in history that the Hurricanes had defeated the Blue Devils in back to back meetings and their fourth win in the last six times the teams met.

Sheldon McClellan, Angel Rodriguez, Davon Reed and Ja’Quan Newton combined to score 63 of Miami’s 80 points in the victory. The Hurricanes win pushed them to 16-3 overall and 6-1 in the ACC at the time.

It was an important victory three years after the Hurricanes ran to a surprising sweep winning ACC regular season and conference tournament titles.

As with the 2017 season, Miami’s defense played a huge part in the victory. The Blue Devils finished the game shooting 41.7 percent from the floor and just 30 percent on their three-point attempts.

The Hurricanes were particularly tough on Blue Devils leading scorer Grayson Allen. He finished the game with 17 points but shot just 6-17 from the floor and 1-5 from beyond the arc.
