Miami 30 Duke 27- 2015

Miami Leads the Series 12-2

Is there any doubting the Hurricanes “Miracle in Durham” is Miami’s biggest win in their rivalry with Duke? They have had more convincing wins in the series with the Blue Devils, but none was bigger or more memorable that this one for many reasons.

Miami was coming off of a 58-0 shellacking from Clemson at home a week earlier. That game was the worst home loss in Miami history and cost Al Golden his job. Brad Kaaya was also knocked out of the game against the Tigers with a concussion. It was an injury that kept him out against Duke.

After struggling mightily against the Tigers, Rosier played extremely well against Duke. He completed just seven of 22 for 42 yards with two interceptions against Clemson. Against the Blue Devils he was 20-29 for 272 yards two touchdowns and an interception.

Miami bolted to a 14-0 lead 7:42 into the game. It was a lead they would hold until six remained in the game. The Hurricanes led Duke 24-12 in the fourth quarter when Duke closed to within 24-19 after a 14 play, 74 yard drive.

The Hurricanes went three and out on the next series and Duke took over with 1:58 remaining. They went 80 yards in ten plays to take the lead with six seconds remaining. The remaining six seconds became college football legend.

Miami used eight laterals with the last one taken 75 yards for a touchdown by Corn Elder. In addition to missing their leader, the Hurricanes were also playing the game with heavy heart. Star Cornerback Artie Burns lost his mother from a heart attack at the age of 44 earlier in the week.
