No one had more games against the top 50 than Miami. They were 4-10. Oklahoma State was the closest with 13 games against the top 50. The Cowboys finished 3-10 against the top 50.

The game’s preeminent Bracketologists Joe Lunardi of ESPN and Jerry Palm of CBS Sports have the ‘Canes as a seven seed. Palm has the Hurricanes as the second highest seven seed which means they would play the second lowest tenth seed. Palm has the seeds listed without having them in a bracket.

Middle Tennessee State is the second lowest ten seed and would play the Hurricanes based on Palm’s bracketology. Lunardi has the Hurricanes as an eight seed in the Midwest against Arkansas in Tulsa.

Number one Kansas would likely be waiting in the second round. That would basically be two road games for the Hurricanes. Fayetteville, Arkansas is a two and a half hour drive from Tulsa and Lawrence, Kansas is about four hours.

Nothing ever seems to fall into place when the NCAA bids and pairings are announced, Syracuse slipped into the tournament last season when virtually everyone had them in the NIT. All the Orange did to prove the naysayers wrong was make a run to the Final Four.

Getting into the tournament as a ten seed also proved the likelihood that the committee never had them on the bubble. There will be some surprises on Sunday as there are every year. Even with the composite of the matrix and over 100 sites agreeing on where the Hurricanes might go and who they will play, nothing is ever static.
