Warren Sapp DT 1995, Selected 12 by Tampa Bay

Sapp began the streak in 1995 as the only player selected in the first round from Miami. Sapp had a stellar four-year career with the Hurricanes. He was All-American as a Junior and Senior and earned multiple awards during the Hurricanes 10-2 campaign in 1994.

Awards and honors

He was arguably the most feared and best defensive tackle of his generation. Sapp finished his NFL career 38th all-time with 96.5 sacks. That’s an impressive number for a tackle.

He finished second in the NFL in sacks with 16.5 in 2000. That was 1.5 sacks behind the NFL record by a defensive lineman, set by the Minnesota Vikings Keith Millard in 1989. His 77 sacks during his eight seasons in Tampa is second in franchise history.

Sapp was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013. His class included fellow Hall of Famers Johnathan Ogden and Cris Carter.
