Franks became the Packers top tight end as a rookie. He had 34 receptions for 363 yards and one touchdown.

Over the next four seasons, Franks became one of Brett Favre’s favorite red zone targets. From 2001-04 Franks had 27 touchdown receptions. Over those four seasons, he also contributed 83 first downs. He spent eight years in Green Bay, catching 256 passes for 2,300 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Franks was named to the Pro Bowl following the 2001-03 seasons. He spent one final season with the New York Jets before retiring after the 2008 season.
