Richt said when he arrived he thought it was going to have to be two projects. The football program needed to upgrade the offices for the football staff and build an indoor practice field.

Richt had what he called a eureka moment. That was to combine both projects into one. He mentioned it’s a blessing that they would be able to do that. The coaches’ offices will be suspended above where the offensive and defensive lines will work according to Miami’s top football man.

"Richt also said “I am the coach, I know what we need…It’s my alma mater…my school. I wanted everyone to know I’m all in, players, alumni…”"

Getting the facility built was difficult because of the school being land locked. There is not much land available around the University.

"James also mentioned that the “Architects have designed what Mark feels he needs to be the very best”"

Richt told HCK that the facility is far more than just indoor practice fields. The facility will include football offices that needed to be upgraded.

The facility will be 81,000 square feet. It will have two turf practice fields. One will be 80 yards long and the other is a 40-yard field that will connect with the Squillante Strength and Conditioning Center and the Hecht Athletic Center.
