Miami Hurricanes Hold Groundbreaking for Carol Soffer Football Facility

She also mentioned that people always ask her how she became such a big sports fan. She discussed her early interest in sports and that she was like the son her father never had. He took her to football, baseball, and basketball games, plus track and field events.

She also spent four years going to football games with her father at the University of Illinois when her sister was a student there. She went to the University of Wisconsin but said that Miami is her adopted alma mater.

"The facility according to Soffer will give Miami “the resources to develop at a par with the best programs in the country…it will maximize opportunities (for athletes) to prepare and be coached at the highest levels” Soffer also added “As a woman, (I am) proud to be among the few if any (to have her name on the building”"

The Hurricanes will gain a lot of practice hours once the facility is built. Practices will no longer be hindered by lightning and rain delays. It’s scheduled to open in time for the 2018 football season that August.
