Morris met with the press after the game to discuss Miami’s absence from the NCAA Tournament:

Some of Morris’ other accomplishments at Miami included becoming the first coach to take his school to the College World Series the first six years heading a program and winning 13 straight regionals.

Not only is the Miami streak over, Morris himself had gone to 32 consecutive NCAA Tournaments. He appeared in nine straight with Georgia Tech before taking over at Miami. Gino DiMare will take over commencing with the 2019 season.

There is promise going into next season. Depending what happens in the draft the Hurricanes should have the nucleus of this year’s team returning next season. Edgar Michelangeli and Johnny Diaz are the only Hurricanes Seniors of note to graduate.

Those calling for Morris’ ouster will get their wish after the 2018 season. Next year will be Morris’ 25th and last with the Hurricanes. He matched Fraser’s two National Titles and is right up there with Fraser in what he’s accomplished in South Florida.
