Jeremy Shockey

Jeremy Shockey first cemented his place in Miami Hurricanes lore with the game-winning touchdown reception with 46 seconds remaining against Florida State in 2000. Shockey finished the game with three receptions for 24 yards and the one touchdown, but his legend was born.

Shockey finished the 2000 season with 21 receptions for 296 yards and three touchdowns. He followed that up a season later with 40 receptions for 519 yards and seven touchdowns. Shockey made several all-American teams following Miami’s undefeated National Championship season.

He declared the for NFL Draft following the season where the Giants picked him 14th overall. He contributed right away. Shockey caught 74 passes for 894 yards and two touchdowns.

The yards, receptions and his 121 targets would all be career highs. Shockey was selected to the Pro-Bowl following his rookie season. He would make it four times in his first five seasons.

Shockey finished his career with 547 receptions, for 6,143 yards and 37 TDs in 136 games. Earlier this year, Athlon Sports named him as the 25th best tight end in NFL history. Shockey was one of three Hurricanes named to the list.

Shockey was inducted into the Miami Athletic Hall of Fame earlier this month.
