Ed Reed 17th Overall to the Baltimore Ravens

Reed was the leader of the 2001 Miami secondary that produced three first round picks. Reed finished second in the country in 2001 with nine interceptions. He led the Big East in Interceptions that season and is the conference’s All-Time leader.

In addition to the nine interceptions, Reed also had 34 tackles, a blocked punt and an unusual return to clinch a huge win at Boston College.

Reed joined legendary Miami linebacker Ray Lewis when he was drafted by the Ravens. Reed became an instant star in the NFL. He was named to the All-Rookie team with former Hurricane teammates Shockey and Clinton Portis.

Reed is a future Hall of Famer. He will be eligible for the Hall of Fame for the Class of 2019. Reed led the NFL in Interceptions three times in his career, return yards twice and had the longest return of the season twice.

His 13 non-offensive touchdowns in his career rank fifth in NFL history. Reed’s 64 career interceptions and 11 return touchdowns rank seventh all-time. He is the NFL All-time leader with 1,590 interception return yards.
