Former Miami Hurricanes Defensive End Calais Campbell has been named as the NFL’s 83rd best player. He was named as part of the NFL’s Top 100 list.

The NFL releases the list in increments of ten every Monday night. They have been doing the list annually since 2011. Campbell is currently the only former Miami Hurricanes player on the list.

The rankings are compiled after being voted on by current NFL players. The poll is conducted in the off-season. The list is a projection of how players will perform in the upcoming season.

Campbell has played nine seasons in the NFL. He spent his entire career with the Arizona Cardinals. In the off-season, Campbell signed a four-year, $60 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Campbell spoke to Sports Illustrated about his decision to join the Jaguars:

"“Young talent. I looked at the roster and said, Oh, wow, this is a team that could really use a guy like me; an older vet who’s been to the playoffs, been to the Super Bowl. I really liked [executive vice president] Tom Coughlin.”"

Campbell joins a roster with four other former Miami Hurricanes on the team. Wide Receiver Allen Hurns, cornerback Tracy Howard and lineman Brandon Linder, plus fullback Marquez Williams who was drafted in May are all on the Jaguars roster. Linder is the brother of current Hurricanes center, Nick Linder.
