DE Jerome McDougle 15th Pick to Philadelphia

McDougle was a force on the Miami Hurricanes Defensive Line for his two seasons in a UM uniform. He finished his Miami career with 114 tackles 31 tackles for loss, 74 quarterback hits,14 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and seven passes broken up.

McDougle was the first Hurricanes player drafted by the Eagles since Jerome Brown was the ninth pick overall in 1988. McDougle’s NFL career was marred by injuries and tragedy.

In the final preseason game of his rookie season, McDougle injured his ankle, knee and hip against the New York Jets. Those injuries cost him eight games of his rookie season.

A year later, McDougle was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat. He later sprained his knee against the Dallas Cowboys. The diagnosis and knee injury cost him five games. McDougle was still coming off his best season in 2004. He finished the season with 14 tackles and two sacks.

After playing just 19 games in his first two NFL seasons, McDougle would miss the entire 2005 season. Following a home invasion, McDougle was shot. He suffered an injury in his arm that required surgery and cost him the season.

Through the first three seasons of McDougle’s NFL Career, he missed 29 games. He played 14 games in 2006. McDougle finished that season 13 tackles and one sack. That would be his last season in Philadelphia.

McDougle once again suffered a preseason injury that would cost him the season. He tore his triceps in the Eagles preseason opener against Baltimore. The following season McDougle was released during the final cuts of the preseason.

McDougle was signed by the Giants. He played four games for them in 2008. That was McDougle’s final season in the NFL.

In six seasons in the NFL, McDougle only played in four of them in a total of 37 games in his career.
