The 2017-18 Miami Hurricanes Basketball roster could be the most talent the program has ever had. Molding that talent and creating good team chemistry will be keys to the 2017-18 season per Head Coach Jim Larranaga.

Larranaga met with the Palm Beach Post’s Matt Porter in Amelia Island to discuss the upcoming season.

Miami losses of Seniors Kamari Murphy and Davon Reed are a big blow on the court and to Miami’s leadership from last season. The Hurricanes are bringing in a ton of talent. Miami has the nation’s 11th ranked recruiting class per USA Today’s composite rankings.

Speaking about the chemistry of his team Larranaga said:

"“I think the personalities blend beautifully…Very nice combination of guys…You have Ja’Quan [Newton] who’s really an attacker. You have Bruce [Brown] who’s combining attack with some perimeter play. You have D.J. [Vasiljevic], an outstanding 3-point shooter who’s working on his attack game."

The Hurricanes might play more uptempo this coming season. Miami struggled often offensively last season. The Hurricanes were 330th out of 351 teams in the country in tempo last year.

Reed and Brown had to carry them in big stretches. Getting more production out of rising Sophomore Dewan Huell, an improving Vasiljevic and some low post scoring from Ebuka Izundu or one of the Freshman should make the Hurricanes a more productive team on the offensive end of the court.
