Who is going to be Miami’s Starting Quarterback?

The biggest question mark for Miami heading into the 2017 season is who will be the starting quarterback. Rosier is the only signal caller on the Miami roster that is that has taken a snap in college.

The rising Junior started in the Miracle in Durham game two years ago. He had significant playing time in the infamous blowout to Clemson in 2015 and played in mop-up time last season.

Sheriffs has impressed with his work ethic and ability as a quick learner.

In nine career games with one start, Rosier has completed 50.8 percent of his passes for 370 yards two touchdowns, three interceptions and a 102.8 quarterback rating. He is the leader to start this fall.

Miami seems to be leaning towards a more athletic quarterback. Perry has been compared to Richt’s pupil as a quarterback coach at Florida State Charlie Ward and current Louisville Quarterback Lamar Jackson.

College football has increasingly become more about more athletic Quarterbacks. Richt discussed the evolution of the quarterback position last month with ESPN:

"“I was aware of things that were happening in the game, just new things, more RPO [run/pass option], zone-read stuff…No one was doing those things back when I was calling.”"
