College Football News Ranks Miami Hurricanes 11th and in Camping World Bowl
CFN counted that the biggest key to the Miami defense is that they have to keep their nasty attitude. Under Manny Diaz that should continue. CFN expects Miami to continue cutting down on the penalties. Mark Richt does not tolerate mistakes on or off the field. CFN “Miami Will Be Far Better If …The penalties slow down.”
CFN’s best players for the Hurricanes are not a surprise. They have Mark Walton offensively and Shaq Quarterman defensively.
If Walton is truly going to be Miami’s best player offensively he is going to have to be more consistent than last season. He went five consecutive games in the middle of last season without reaching 100 yards rushing. Miami lost the last four of those. He also failed to reach 100 yards in Miami’s last two games of the year.
On a very deep front seven, Quarterman is the leader and its best player. He finished second on the team in tackles last season and is the leading returning tackler.
CFN’s “Key Player To A Successful Season: QB Malik Rosier, Jr. Or Evan Shirreffs, who has the pro-passer ability to stretch the field, or star recruit N’Kosi Perry”. Whoever is under center for Miami needs to be efficient and be a game manager. CFN said about Rosier:
"“The 6-1, 216-pound Rosier has been the backup over the last few seasons, and with the running ability to add something new to the offensive mix, but the team needs a consistent passer. Consistency will matter in fall camp.”"
