Miami Hurricanes Appear on ESPN’s College Gameday Best Moments 71-100
ESPN’s College Gameday is counting down the top 100 moments in college football as the season approaches. They began the countdown on May 25th with 100 days to go to the start of the 2017 season. The Miami Hurricanes landed several of those moments on the list.
The Miami Hurricanes had several moments on the list from 71-100. Some of these are among the greatest moments in Miami history. O
thers are moments that fans of the U would like to forget.
The Miami Hurricanes first moment on the list counting down from 100 to eventually ranking the top moment in August was Michael Barrow’s devastating hit on Florida State’s Tamarick Vanover in 1992. It was ranked 90th overall. Barrow anticipated the Florida State wide receiver screen perfectly and leveled Vanover.
"He told the Palm Beach Post in 2012: “As you watch film, you say, ‘If they run that play, that’s my play”"
ABC’s announcers Keith Jackson and Bob Griese had a field day with the hit directly after it happened. In an article on the 20 year anniversary of the play, the Palm Beach Post looked back at what they said:
"“Tamarick Vanover will not get up,” ABC announcer Keith Jackson said to a national television audience. “Michael Barrow separated him from his senses. Wow!” Added ABC analyst Bob Griese: “Barrow has seen a few of those. He was ready for it.”"
The game was the second of three wide right games in Miami-FSU history.
