The media gathered for ACC Kickoff days was ready to grill Richt about the Miami quarterback race. The debate in the offseason in the media and amongst the fans has been if Miami should start freshman quarterback N’Kosi Perry. The biggest question has been whether or not Perry will be ready?

The biggest question has been whether or not Perry will be ready? Will he have enough of a grasp of the playbook? Will he be able to take care of the ball? Will he be far enough ahead of Rosier and Sheriffs that his skill will outweigh their experience to secure the starting job?

Richt discussed Perry and classmate Cade Weldon’s place in the quarterback competition.

"“You’ve got two true freshmen, Cade Weldon, and…N’Kosi Perry…both of those guys can move well. They can throw well. They’re smart. They’re tough. At least they were in high school. We’ll find out what they can do when we start practicing. And I think it’s at the point now where we’ve just got to get them out there and give them reps.”"

Nothing will get a fan base more stirred up than a quarterback that can’t handle the pressure and turns the ball over. Most astute fans understand enough to know when a quarterback is making good decisions. Ask Chicago Bears fans about that.
