ORLANDO, FL – DECEMBER 28: Brad Kaaya /

Richt discussed the importance of handling the pressure of the job and being able to make the right decisions at QB.

"“When we scrimmage, I want to see who can handle the pressure of that job. I need a guy I can trust. Can you hit your target, can you make good decisions, can you handle the pressure of being the starting quarterback at Miami? Those are the things I’ve got to find out, and the last one I won’t know until they actually become the starting quarterback”"

Richt was asked about Syracuse, the physicality of the ACC’s Coastal Division, the tight ends, the linebacking core and year two before the conversation turned back to quarterback.

The ACC Kickoff Days have media from every team. They each have an agenda related to the teams they cover. Richt was then asked about the process of replacing Kaaya.

"“We knew Kaaya was going to move on. Was it going to be this year or not, we didn’t know that. So you’re always preparing for the moment. I mean, Brad, God forbid, could have got hurt game two."

Kaaya’s importance the last three years cannot be understated. He was the face of the program for the last three years and a record setting quarterback, Many pundits have said that Miami could have been a national championship contender if he had returned.
