The reality for Richt and offensive coordinator Thomas Brown is that Kaaya chose to turn pro. He will be battling to be the Detroit Lions primary backup.

Richt and Brown’s job is to determine who the next quarterback will be. Miami has three options that have stood out. That would be obvious to any followers of Miami as well as the media gathered for ACC Kickoff days.

It’s nearly 100 percent that either Rosier, Sheriffs or Perry will be the starter. They all have skills to be able to play the position. The intangibles of playing quarterback will be nearly as important as who has the most talent. Richt said:

"“Somebody has got to play. You’ve got to be preparing guys to play. The big thing for me is to — I just need a guy that I know is going to have a great respect for the football. They all have arm talent. They all can move. They all are going to know what to do or they wouldn’t be in the game. But what are you going to do when the protection breaks down? Are you going to throw it up for grabs? Are you going to start running wild and get the ball stripped and they scoop and score?”"
