Year one of any college athletic program for a new Head Coach is setting up the process of how things will be done. Richt discussed getting his entire staff on board with what he wants to be accomplished.

"“The first year part of the process is getting the staff and team managers to understand what you are trying to accomplish.”"

Richt talked about setting up how he wants things done to the media members at ACC Kickoff days.

"“The very first practice, you practice the practice without the players. You get the managers and trainers and coaches and you get the clocks running and you get everybody to understand where they’ve got to be and when they’ve got to be there. You’re ground zero in so many areas year one."

Richt and his program accomplished a lot in year one. Now with that success behind them, the Hurricanes aim for bigger things in Year Two. Miami is still aiming for its first ACC Coastal Division title.

"Year two, we understand how to do the little things right, and we understand how we want to go about our business, and the players, like I said, 80, 90 percent of them know exactly what we want to do and how we want to do it, so now it’s a matter of them perfecting their trade. And so it’s a different feel for sure.”"
