Ray Lewis is one of the most iconic and polarizing linebackers in NFL History. He has the two highest single-season tackle totals in Miami history. He has 160 in 1995 and 152 in 1994. Lewis is sixth overall in school history with 388 tackles.

He was a 2004 inductee into the University of Miami Athletic Hall of Fame. Lewis was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2000 and won the MVP in the Super Bowl after the same season.

Lewis was drafted by former Colts, Browns and Giants General Manager Ernie Accorsi. Accorsi drafted another Hurricanes great Bernie Kosar in Cleveland.

Team Accorsi

"Ernie Accorsi-Served as GM of the Colts, Browns and Giants. He drafted John Elway (only to see the young QB force a trade). He drafted Bernie Kosar. He made the gutsy 2004 NFL Draft-day deal that brought Eli Manning to the Giants."

"LB Ray Lewis (1996-2012) The fiercest linebacker of his generation, Lewis spent 17 seasons as the beating heart of a dominant Ravens defense. A first-round pick for the reborn Baltimore franchise, in 1996, he was a seven-time All-Pro and 13-time Pro Bowler. He was twice named NFL Defensive Player of the Year and will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018."
