Malik Rosier was also in attendance and was throwing with the premier paradise group quarterbacks. Rosier was not garnishing the attention from coaches or teammates similar to Perry. That is not an indictment of Rosier. It was a simple snap shot assessment of the night.
Rosier is not the consensus fan favorite. It could be as simple as Perry is the shiny new toy with tremendous upside or the alternative. Perry was a Richt recruit and number one on his board and fans trust Richt’s track record developing QB’s.
The quarterback competition going into the fall will be a fluid one. Perry’s demeanor and presence, however, does not equivocate to someone willing to play second fiddle. Whereas I have been hesitant to crown anyone this early as the starter, Perry mentally seems the part.
Bridgeport, Connecticut’s Taisun Phommachanh and Newark, New Jersey’s Zamar Wise were Paradise camp quarterbacks who stuck out. 247 sports list a Miami offer to Wise and both prospects are in the class of 2019.
Wise is a pro style quarterback who is a very capable runner. His mobility is further evidence that coach Richt desires that trait at the position. On the night, Wise had a very tight spiral and had a relatively unabated throwing motion. Wise’s footwork had no glaring deficiencies.
