The Miami Hurricanes have one of the most experienced offensive lines in college football. They have 86 starts among the players on the offensive line. That experience and the newcomers are going to be extremely important to the success of the new quarterback.

The Miami Hurricanes return three starters on the offensive line plus part-time starter Tyler Gauthier. They also added significant depth. Freshman Navaughn Donaldson and Junior Transfer George Brown should see a lot of playing time.

The star and leader of the offensive line is Senior Right Guard K.C. McDermott. McDermott was one of 17 Miami Hurricanes players that received votes for Preseason All-ACC. He was the only Miami offensive lineman to receive votes. McDermott earned second team All-ACC in the preseason voting.

Miami struggled with depth on the offensive line last season. It showed in the loss 37-16 loss to Virginia Tech. The Hurricanes entered that game with several injuries on the O-line. Offensive line coach Stacy Searles was forced to shuffle his offensive line against the Hokies.

Virginia Tech took advantage recording 11.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks in the one sided victory. Searles won’t have that issue as much this season.
