Frank Gore RB (Still Active-Eligible Five Years After Retirement)

Gore was a part of the greatest stable of running backs in the history of College Football. Five Miami running backs on the 2001 National Championship teams made it to the NFL.

Gore shared carries with Willis McGahee as the primary backup to Clinton Portis as a Freshman in 2001. He was sensational off the bench. Gore carried 62 times for 562 yards and five touchdowns. Also on that team was fullback Najeh Davenport and Jarrett Payton.

On five fewer carries than McGahee, he had 248 yards more yards and two more touchdowns. Gore was set to share the starting running back job in 2002 with McGahee. Portis had moved on to the NFL.

A torn ACL during the spring ended his 2002 campaign. Gore had to spend the season in rehab while Miami defended its title. Despite also tearing his ACL in the 2002 BCS National championship game McGahee turned pro following the season.

Gore came back for the 2003 season and shared the starting ball-carrying duties with Payton and Tyrone Moss. He finished the season with 468 yards and four touchdowns.

Payton graduated after the 2003 season and Gore and Moss shared the rushing duties in 2004. Gore led the team with 945 yards on 197 carries and eight touchdowns.
