Monday was Media Day for Miami Football. It gave the media a chance to grill Mark Richt and some of his players about the season. Richt opened media day discussing the importance of experience and his quarterbacks.
An afternoon press conference with Richt speaking first kicked off Miami Football Media Day. Some of the topics discussed were the fatigue that can set in as the third week of training camp began, the difference between the young players and the experienced ones and importance of maturity.
Richt has been very impressed by the Freshmen but states that he needs to see far more consistency from his newcomers if they are going to earn playing time. He also discussed the changing nature of the game.
In the past when teams would huddle coaches could be a lot more patient with players. They could send situational players in and out much more easily. Now the players have to have a greater understanding what is going on on the field.
With the Miami Football fan base anticipating how much of an impact the Freshmen could have, it’s the Sophomores that could be the players to watch. These players have had a year to learn either the offensive or defensive systems while watching the upperclassmen perform on the field.
