Richardson quoted Richt as saying:
"“I wasn’t too happy about how the thing ended…Trying to do situational offense, one-minute drill in particular, it didn’t look like we didn’t coach one down. We had meetings to cover. We had walkthroughs to cover. We jogged through it two days ago. We jogged through it again [Friday] … We [knew] exactly what to do, how to do it, and it didn’t happen.”"
Richt spared no one in his rant. The equipment staff apparently didn’t set up some of the drills correctly.
"“Plus, we can’t even get our pylons in the right spots because they are landmarks for us to make decisions on certain plays…Our equipment people, we might have put them in the right spot to begin with, but by the time we got to the drill it was in the wrong spot, which helps blow up the drill. Everybody around here has got to do their job, OK? Right now, it’s not happening, and I’m part of it. I’m leading it. It’s on me. I promise you it’s going to be on everybody else, too.”"
The offensive line appeared to be the only unit unfazed by Richt’s scolding. They are apparently used to it from position coach Stacy Searles on a daily basis. Senior K.C. McDermott discussed Richt’s rare blow-up.
