For Miami to take the next step forward, they are going to need to improve their running game. They completely fell flat in losses to Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame last year. They also fared poorly in the run game in the win over West Virginia.

Despite their struggles in the run game in 2016, they still took huge strides forward in the run game over the 2015 season. They averaged a paltry 3.08 yards per rush against P5 opponents in the final year under Al Golden and Larry Scott.
