Six Miami Hurricanes Making First Career Start in Opener
Six Miami Hurricanes are set to make the first starts of their career in Saturday’s opener against Bethune-Cookman. Four of the six new starters are new to the Miami roster this season. It also breaks down by class as one Senior, two Juniors and three Freshman.
Four Miami Hurricanes started as Freshman last season. Three of them earned Freshman All-American honors. Wide receiver Ahmmon Richards and linebackers Shaq Quarterman and Michael Pinckney were all selected to ESPN’s Freshman All-American team.
Richards will almost definitely be sitting out Saturday’s opener with a pulled hamstring injury. Replacing him in the starting lineup is likely to be Freshman Mike Harley.
Harley has impressed Mark Richt and the Miami offensive staff with his speed and route running ability. The route running is key. His ability to learn quickly is encouraging for the future.
The second player on the offensive side of the ball starting for the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday is right guard Navaughn Donaldson is a massive 6’6 350. He is likely to move over to tackle later in his career.
The third Freshman starter is punter Zach Feagles. Feagles is the son of University of Miami Hall of Famer and 22 year NFL Veteran punter Jeff Feagles.
He comes in a highly touted three-star prospect. Feagles played in the Under Armour All-America game. He beat out Sophomore walk-on Jack Spicer who transferred from the University of Florida.
