Dean was the nation’s most highly sought after Junior college cornerback after last season. He was a one time Alabama commit.

Bandy and Young are expected to play in the nickel package for Miami. Young started four games last season. He has shown a penchant for the ball. A lot of players should get playing time in the secondary.

"Diaz said: “We have a way to utilize a lot of guys,” Diaz said. “I think that the biggest point that we are trying to make to our defense right now is that with us kicking off at 12:30 and we did not playing a day game at home for the first two months of last season, we need our depth.”"

Like Jackson, Mike Smith is getting a chance to make his first start as a Junior. He is seizing an opportunity to start with an injury and suspended for a half Mike Pinckney. Pinckney is suspended for the first half of the game against Bethune-Cookman.

The suspension is the result of being ejected for targeting in the second half of Miami’s 31-14 Russell Athletic Bowl Victory over West Virginia last December. Pinckney has also been dealing with his own hamstring injury throughout training camp and might not play Saturday.
