Two plays later after stopping Thompkins on a second and one, he ran for two yards on third down to keep B-C’s drive going. Miami stopped the drive when Malek Young picked off Brihm.
The Hurricanes went three and out after the interception. After getting Bethune into a third and long on the first set of downs, Brihm completed a pass to Jamal Thomas for 19 yards and a first down.
Miami was able to stop Bethune-Cookman on the next set of downs. On third and six the UM defense held B-C to a three-yard completion. The Hurricanes got the ball back on a punt.
The Hurricanes forced a fumble on Bethune-Cookman’s final possession. Miami ran out the clock from there.
Shoring that up is going to be essential on the road at Arkansas State in the next game. The Red Wolves were seven of 13 on third down in a 43-36 loss at Nebraska Saturday. They also rolled up 497 yards of offense.

Stopping the other team on third and fourth downs and converting them yourself on offense is more important on the road. Being able to do both stops the home team’s momentum. Doing that on the 16th at Florida State could be the difference between winning and losing.
