Miami Hurricanes vs. Bethune-Cookman Breakdown
The Miami Hurricanes and coach Mark Richt will make no apologies for a win. There was a lot of positives and negatives that came out of week one.
Kudos to Malik Rosier. The redshirt junior signal caller ushered in his Miami Hurricanes era with a 17-28, 217 yards, three touchdown, no interception performance. It did not long to understand coach Richt’s mobility initiative when Rosier essentially eclipsed Brad Kaaya’s total rushing yards in one play. (Kaaya career rushing totals was negative 386)
Rosier’s dynamic as a dual threat essentially kept backside defenders occupied with his keep option potential. Gone are the days where defenders are unabated to destroy the mesh point because a quarterback resembles the picturesque statue of David.
The offensive line created huge holes on the day but Rosier’s threat to run accentuated the effort. The Hurricanes had a team total of 322 rushing yards. Mark Walton and Travis Homer both eclipsed the century mark (century Travis) individually.
Some will say Rosier was a bit disjointed at times and inaccurate but consider Rosier posted a 60.7 completion percentage on Saturday. Kaaya career percentage as a starter was 60.5
