Miami Hurricanes vs. Bethune-Cookman Breakdown
In the prime time match up between number one Alabama and number three Florida State, South Florida’s own Calvin Ridley benefited from motion. When Alabama flexed a receiver into the flats Florida State defenders got caught looking it and it was Ridley who blew the top off.
Subtle motion big result. Miami did not metamorphosis into some exotic entity from game one as it slid into an abysmal October in 2016. Starting off with a 500 plus yard dominant vs an inferior opponent is nothing new for this team.
Miami needs to take the next step into being a very hard to defend offense schematically rather than being so contingent on winning the one on ones.
Eventually, Miami needs to think playoff picture and facing the Alabama’s of the world with stout lights out defenses. You do not beat the Alabama’s of the world with base predictable offenses. Nick Saban has not lost to a pro style offense since 2011 when he lost 9-6 to LSU. FSU was Saban’s latest victim.
You beat Alabama the way Clemson did. The Tigers Ran 99 plays in the National Championship game. They had a gorgeous game plan. Dab Swinney had them shifting, in motion and they pushed the pace.

You think you can beat the big boys of the world with a base stagnant offense you are fooling yourself. That is a 14 game assessment, not a singular one.
