The Miami Hurricanes cancellation of Saturday’s game at Arkansas State puts life in perspective for most people. There has been a sizeable minority on social media that has been outspoken about Miami’s decision.

The Miami Hurricanes decision to cancel the game has given a voice to the trolls on the various forms of social media. Parts of the Arkansas State and Florida State fan bases and a smaller part of the Florida fan base has vocally against the U’s decision.

Christy Chiniros Cabrera of the Sun Sentinel wrote an excellent article about how the Miami Hurricanes players are coping and what’s being said on social media about the University of Miami’s decision to cancel the game.

This isn’t the first time that Miami has had to cancel a game. They famously had to postpone a game in 1998 against UCLA. With the Pac 10 or Big East having conference championships in that era the game was moved to December 5. It was originally scheduled for September 26 and was cancelled because of Hurricane Georges.

UCLA coach Bob Toledo spoke out about the cancellation at the time.

"“Deep down inside, I’m actually kind of glad that we’re not going,” said Toledo, who broke the news to his players as they prepared to board a bus to LAX. “I’m responsible for those young men and to their families, and I would feel terrible if something happened. You’ve got to keep it in perspective: This is a game.”"
