Five Games to Watch this Weekend that Have Implications for Miami Hurricanes
Northwestern at Duke Noon, ESPNU
Many consider Northwestern a sleeper in the Big Ten West this season. The Wildcats had to eek out a 31-20 victory over Nevada (more on them later) last week at home. Two late Northwestern touchdowns made the score deceiving.
With Nevada’s focus on star running back Justin Jackson, Northwestern quarterback Clayton Thorsen was able to move the Wildcats through the air. He finished with 352 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
The game produced a new star for Northwestern. Sophomore wide receiver Ben Skowronek had eight receptions for 70 yards last season. In his first game this season he matched his 2016 reception output for 123 yards and a touchdown.
Duke quarterback Daniel Jones is one of the most versatile in the country. Duke routed North Carolina Central 60-7 in the opener. Forty of the 60 points came in the first half.
Jones threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for 19 yards and another touchdown. Brittain Young ran for 120 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Aaron Young had five receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown.
The battle should come down to Thorsen and Jackson against Jones and Young.
Toledo at Nevada is another game to watch. The Miami Hurricanes will play the Rockets in two weeks. Toledo has NFL prospects Logan Woodside at quarterback. He threw for over 300 yards in their season opening win over Elon.

Two of the Toledo’s backs had at least 99 yards. Nevada quarterback Tyler Gangi is wildly inaccurate. Running back Jaxson Kincaide ran for 86 yards against Northwestern last week.
