PROVO, UT – SEPTEMBER 30: Quarterback Logan Woodside /

Toledo September 23

Logan Woodside QB

Woodside is the highest ranked quarterback in Sports Illustrated’s top 100 that the Miami Hurricanes will face this season. The only other QB ranked in the top 100 that the Hurricanes would have faced is Florida State’s Deonrde Francois who is out for the season.

Woodside led the country last season with 45 touchdown passes and finished seventh in the country with 4,129 yards. With Woodside under center, the Rockets are the favorite to win the MAC this season.

Miami and Toledo had one common opponent last season. The Rockets lost in the Camellia Bowl to Appalachian State 31-28. Miami defeated the Mountaineers 45-10 in Boone, North Carolina last season.

Sports Illustrated’s take on Woodside is:

"“Woodside was one of the best quarterbacks in the country not named Lamar Jackson last season. He completed 69.1% of his throws for 4,129 yards with 45 touchdowns, nine interceptions and a 183.34 pass efficiency rating (second only to Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield, who broke the record in that statistic). He’ll spend his final college season lighting up overmatched defenses again and entertaining fans on #MACtion Tuesday nights. And with the Rockets positioned to make a run at a conference title and possibly challenge South Florida for Group of Five supremacy, Woodside could even work his way into the fringes of the Heisman Trophy conversation. — CJ"
