November 4 Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech had three players named to the preseason All-ACC team. Wide receiver Cam Phillips, guard Wyatt Teller and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds were all named to the preseason All-ACC team.

Both Phillips and Edmunds will be important players for Mark Richt and Manny Diaz to plan for. Both had outstanding games in the Hokies opener. Virginia Tech opened the season with a 31-21 victory over West Virgina.

Phillips is catching passes from new quarterback Josh Jackson this season. He accumulated eight receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown in the season opener. That comes after 76 receptions for 983 yards and five touchdowns last season.

Edmunds had seven tackles in the win over West Virginia last week. Virginia Tech should have one of the best defenses in the ACC this season. Edmunds brother Terrell had seven tackles and two passes defended in week one.

Adonis Alexander and  Andrew Motuapuaka also had big games for the Hokies against West Virginia. Alexander had nine tackles and three passes defended. Motuapuaka finished with 12 tackles.
