Five Games to Watch Week 3 With Miami Hurricanes Implications
9 Oklahoma State at Pittsburgh 11 AM ET ESPN
Pittsburgh and their much-maligned defense will get a stiff test when Oklahoma State visits Heinz Field on Saturday. Last year’s game in Stillwater was the team’s first meeting.
The Cowboys shredded the Panthers defense in a 45-37 victory last season. NFL prospect Mason Rudolph threw for 540 yards for Oklahoma State.
Pittsburgh’s Quadree Henderson might be the most versatile player in college football. The Cowboys were able to hold him to just 38 return yards. He did catch seven passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Like many of the teams in the ACC Coastal this season, Pittsburgh is breaking in a new quarterback. Max Browne is a graduate transfer from USC. Browne has thrown for 278 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in two games.
Browne threw for 140 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers season-opening win over FCS Youngstown State. Browne struggled week two in a 33-14 loss to Penn State. He was 19-32 for 138 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Browne was replaced by Sophomore Ben DiNucci in the fourth quarter against the Nittany Lions. DiNucci was five of nine for 49 yards and led a touchdown drive.
