Hurricane Irma created adversity in the Miami Hurricanes season. Head Coach Mark Richt elected for the team not to play their game at Arkansas State September 9 to allow his players to evacuate or be with their families.

The ACC made the decision to reschedule the Miami Hurricanes game against Florida State September 16. That also created a re-schedule of Miami’s game against Georgia Tech that had been scheduled for October 12. That game was pushed back two days until October 14.

The ACC did that to give the Hurricanes a full week of practice. Georgia Tech will be coming off of their bye week. Miami was originally scheduled to play the Yellow Jackets off of their October 7 bye week.

The decision was made to move the Florida State during both the Seminoles and Hurricanes bye week. Neither school was in session last week.  Many of the Miami Hurricanes players evacuated to Orlando prior to Irma. The entire team has been there since at least last Friday.

The Hurricanes held a practice focused on conditioning on Saturday and held their first football focused practice on Sunday. HurricaneSports.Com, Miami’s official athletic website spoke to several of the Hurricanes players about what they did during Irma and their experiences.
