Miami Hurricanes PG Ja’Quan Newton “This is best team I’ve been on”
Speaking to 247Sports.Com, Miami Hurricanes point guard Ja’Quan Newton said that the upcoming season is the best team he has been on at Miami. The Hurricanes are aiming for a third straight NCAA Tournament appearance for the second time in school history.
Newton spoke about the depth that the Miami Hurricanes have at each position, the overall talent, the work ethic, his transition to point guard last season and the scoring balance that Miami will have this year. He spoke at length with 247Sports’ Christopher Stock on a variety of topics.
Newton will be the driver of the Miami Hurricanes team this season. Most of the offseason discussion about the Hurricanes upcoming season has focused on Newton’s backcourt mates Sophomore Bruce Brown and Freshmen Lonnie Walker.
Newton can be a prolific player on both ends of the court in his own right. He will be expected to be the leader of the team this season. Newton is likely to be the only Senior in the rotation.
Many are saying that the Miami Hurricanes have more talent than they did a year ago. They will be less experienced. This is a team that many are expecting to make a deep run in March.
