Miami Hurricanes PG Ja’Quan Newton “This is best team I’ve been on”

The 2013 and ’16 advanced to the Sweet 16. Those were only the second and third appearances for the Hurricanes on NCAA’s second weekend. Newton discussed the chance for a special season with Stock.

"“I think we’re very special..this is the best team I’ve been on yet with the talent we’ve got. We’re just so deep. I think at every position we’re just loaded from point guard to the two, to the three, to the four, and even to the five… There’s times in pick-up where somebody will score, then the other team will score, then the other team will score, and the other team will score. It’s like, ‘Dang we’re really good.’ It’s very special with what’s going on right now.”"

National and local media have both tabbed this upcoming season one that should be better than last year was. Newton discussed why that should be the case.

"“I’d say the work ethic that everybody has…When I first got here my freshman year, not talking down on anybody or anything, but it wasn’t really guys were attacking the gym every day with some guys on the team. Now the work ethic is crazy. Everybody is in the gym every day. Everybody has their set workout times and this is probably the hardest summer anybody has ever worked. It motivated me to work harder.”"
