How did Miami Hurricanes Handle Time in Orlando?

Many of the Miami Hurricanes players and most of its staff evacuated to Orlando ahead of Hurricane Irma. After preparing for the storm, the rode it out in Orlando. They were there for nearly two weeks after the storm hit.

Twenty-five Miami Hurricanes players reportedly made the trip to Orlando. The nearly 250-mile trip took the team nearly ten hours by bus. It was nearly bumper to bumper for the entire trip from Coral Gables.

After checking into their hotel, Miami Assistant Athletic Director Jenn Strawley went “to a meeting with hotel personnel and was given the rundown for emergency procedures and evacuation plans.” per ESPN’s Andrea Adelson.

Although Orlando is inland and wouldn’t get the storm surge that the coastal cities would get, they were still facing a lot of rain, the potential of 80 miles per hour winds and tornadoes.
