Because of the severity of the situation and need to get players in a safe place and fed, the NCAA allowed the Hurricanes to make quick decisions. Adelson relayed what they were able to do once they were in Orlando.

"“The NCAA had given Miami permission to do what needed to be done to keep everyone safe, allowing decisions to be fast-tracked. Miami officials offered players food vouchers for breakfast and dinner at restaurants inside the hotel. They also made a run to the local supermarket to stock up on snacks, bread, peanut butter and jelly. Strawley had cases of water and snacks in her room, available to anyone who wanted to eat.”"

The players had to come up with other ways to work out. Some used the hotel gym and others ran outside. Most were focused on the watching the weather channel and would lie ahead.

The Miami Hurricanes were criticized earlier in the week for canceling their game. After Florida Governor Rick Scott ordered all public schools to be closed, the other Florida schools began to follow suit. Only Florida International and Florida Atlantic elected to play their games.
