Coming off an emotional victory over Florida State the Miami Hurricanes don’t have time for any rest. The only two undefeated teams remaining in the ACC Coastal after two games will face off at Hard Rock Stadium. The Hurricanes will host Georgia Tech.

The Yellow Jackets travel to Miami Gardens with a three-game winning streak. They lost their opener 42-41 to Tennessee in overtime at Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta. Georgia Tech has followed that up with wins over Jacksonville State, Pittsburgh and North Carolina. The Miami Hurricanes won last year’s meeting 35-21 in Atlanta.

This week is a big step up. The Volunteers have struggled since defeating the Yellow Jackets in the opener. Included in that span was a 41-0 loss to Mark Richt’s coaching alma mater Georgia Bulldogs at home. Georgia Tech’s victories over Pittsburgh and North Carolina came over two of the ACC’s winless teams. The Panthers and Tar Heels are 0-5 combined.

If the Miami Hurricanes are going to win they are going to have to slow down the Yellow Jackets vaunted triple option offense. Georgia Tech averages 396 rushing yards per game. That leads the ACC and is second in the nation. They average nearly 160 yards rushing more than anyone else in the conference.

The game has been moved from Thursday to Saturday afternoon because of schedule shuffling due to Hurricane Irma. When the Miami Hurricanes game against Florida State was moved from September 16 to October 7, it necessitated that the game between the Hurricanes and Yellow Jackets to be moved two days back.

Otherwise, Georgia Tech would have been coming off of a bye week and Miami would have played the game in a short week.

Mark Richt and his staff have a lot of injuries to work around. At least Four starters will be missing. Starting wide receiver Ahmmon Richards injured his hamstring in camp and missed the first two games of the season. He re-aggravated it against Florida State on Saturday and is listed as questionable.

Running back Mark Walton is out for the season. Travis Homer has played well as his backup this season. Homer should step in and succeed. It’s the lack of depth behind him that’s concerning. Offensive lineman Navaughn Donaldson and two starters in the secondary are also out Saturday.
