The Miami Hurricanes won in the final seconds for the second consecutive week. After struggling through their first two games, the Miami defense has played better the last three weeks.

The Miami Hurricanes received good performances from their defense and kicker Michael Badgley kicked four field goals including the game-winner with four seconds left in the victory.

The Hurricanes defense stepped up after spotting the Yellow Jackets a 14-3 lead in the second quarter. After a third-quarter field goal gave Georgia Tech a 24-13 lead, the Miami Hurricanes forced the Yellow Jackets to punt on their last four possessions of the game.

The Miami Hurricanes answered with a 21 yard Badgley field goal with 3:33 left in the third quarter that made it a one-possession game. A Travis Homer touchdown run 1:24 into the fourth quarter cut the deficit to 24-22. Miami missed the potential game-tying two-point conversion.

The Miami Hurricanes defense kept them in the game in the second half. After Homer’s touchdown, Georgia Tech punted on three straight possessions and only had 12 yards on 12 plays. Add in the drive before the Homer touchdown and the Yellow Jackets had 18 plays for 28 yards.
