Miami Hurricanes Need to Play Well on Special Teams and Key Downs
Feagles has been inconsistent punting the football this season. The Freshman is the son of NFL punting legend and Miami Athletic Hall of Famer Jeff Feagles. He is last in the ACC with an average of 38.4 yards per punt.
Feagles is second in the ACC having forced 21 fair catches. He also has 15 punts inside the 20. The Hokies Greg Stroman has been a dangerous return man this season. He is averaging 12.8 yards per return and has two touchdowns. His 27 returns are the most in the ACC.
Miami has been better than the Hokies on their punt return defense this season. The Hurricanes have only allowed two returns this season for zero yards. They are tied for second nationally.
Freshman wide receiver Jeff Thomas has made big plays in the return game each of the last three weeks. He seems to be getting close to breaking one in the return game as well. Thomas is eighth in the ACC averaging 22.1 yards per kickoff return.
The Hokies have been more susceptible on kickoff returns. They rank 49th in the country allowing 19.67 yards per kickoff return.
