Notre Dame’s history of sexual assaults did not go without authorities higher up than district attorneys in South Bend noticing about the coverups at Notre Dame.

Per the Chicago Tribune article, the U.S. Department of Education investigated how Notre Dame handled sexual assaults in the past. Notre Dame and the USDOE came to an agreement that Notre Dame would institute as the Tribune described “wide-ranging reforms” in the way they would handle cases.

Yet a year later, another sexual assault allegation seemed to go unpunished.
